Erasmus+ for higher education
We have gathered together general information about the EU’s Erasmus+ programme concerning the higher education sector. Austria has a National Agency for Erasmus+ Education, which is located within the OeAD and is responsible for implementing this programme. This is the main point of contact for questions related to Erasmus+.
The EU’s Erasmus+ programme covers education, training, youth and sport, and runs from 2014 to 2020.
The following campaigns are relevant to the higher education sector:
- Student and personnel mobility in the higher education industry, including mobility to and from partner countries outside Europe (in German only).
- Support for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees: Master’s programmes which involve at least three higher education institutions from three different Erasmus+ programme countries. These explicitly support mobility as a means of acquiring high-quality joint degrees or double/multiple degrees (in German only).
- Strategic Partnerships support a wide variety of projects in education which increase the quality and efficiency of European education systems, such as developing and implementing innovative teaching methods and courses, the intensive use of mechanisms for recognition and transparency, etc. (in German only).
- Knowledge Alliances are transnational, results-based cooperation projects between higher education institutions and companies which serve to generate innovative learning and teaching methods and to promote an interdisciplinary approach and the exchange of new ideas (in German only).
- Sector Skills Alliances are geared towards cooperation between education and vocational training providers and the world of work, so that they jointly develop new, sector-specific or overarching courses and new methods in vocational education (in German only).
- Capacity Building in Higher Education promotes the modernisation, accessibility and internationalisation of higher education in partner countries outside Europe (in German only).
- Jean Monnet Activities are designed to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies worldwide. They also foster dialogue between the academic world and policymakers on topics related to the EU (in German only).
The OeAD has been designated as the national agency for implementing and administering the education component of Erasmus+. In this context, the National Agency for Erasmus+ Education within the OeAD is in charge of Erasmus+ in Austria and provides applicants with advice and information.
